Starting a New Diet..With Fasting...Oh my

I have been going to a specialist at Huntington Hospital to help avoid getting lymphodema in my arm since they removed about 25 lymph nodes in December. We are working on my diet with intermittent fasting, diet, exercise, meditation, acupuncture and other things.

The hardest part for me when I'm dieting or watching what I eat is that 1. I'm a stress eater and 2. I'm a foodie. I love to go out and drink wine and eat fabulous food. Trying to figure out a balance of wellness and "fun" is hard for me to do.

Matt and I have had lots of conversations about getting more fit and healthy together. I started ordering Sun Basket to cook during the week, which has organic and very healthy options. Besides Sun Basket which I have been doing for our dinners during the week, I am trying to do intermittent fasting so that I can get my metabolism under control and working in my favor. At first it was extremely hard to push myself to an 8-12 hour span between meals but it has been getting easier and easier everyday. If I feel a headache coming on, then I just have a little bone broth to hold me over, or a cup of Jasmine Pearl Green Tea. I'm also following certain parts of the book: Keto Diet by Dr. Axe. I have also ordered some more books for research purposes, and I will let everyone know my thoughts on those as well.




Added supplements that are all cancer fighting agents based on Dr. Axe's book, they all help as an anti inflammatory as well:

Vitamin D3

Fish Oil

Turmeric

Reishi Mushrooms

Probiotics in the morning


Essential Oils:

On the front and back of my neck, 3 times a day, I do frankincense and myrrh

For my hot flashes at night, I do peppermint on my forehead and temples


I've also incorporated doing green drinks into my diet to get those extra vitamins into my system. There are some great recipes for them in his book, but to save some time I found some fabulous organic ones at Sprouts as well.


Just adding in the supplements and curving my timing for when I eat and watching what I am in-taking, I've already lost a few pounds without really trying too hard. For me, it needs to be a lifestyle that I can handle. I want to be selfish and still enjoy certain things in our lives.
